About Us

Overview

Commonwealth Housing Group Kenya (CHG) is a nonprofit organization that support to marginalized communities living in deplorable conditions, seeking to provide themselves with decent and secure homes. Consequently, we support community-led initiatives tackling the housing challenge in urban informal settlements. Currently, rehousing the MWAMKO families of Korogocho informal settlement, Nairobi, Kenya, is our main project since we believe that a decent home is at the core of thriving communities.

When a family has a secure and stable home, they are able to improve their livelihoods, pull themselves out of poverty and build robust communities.

Vision

Improved housing, dignified lives.

Mission

We exist to restore dignity and improve the livelihoods of marginalized families in the informal settlements. We thus measure our success by the strides we make towards lifting more families from such settlements into decent homes whilst providing a pathway to social and economic self-reliance.

Core Values:

Humility

CHG was born of a desire to give dignity to marginalized families.
We, therefore, serve all with humility and respect.

Partnership

We deliver on our mission through collaboration. So we strive to forge mutual understanding, cooperation and lasting friendships in all our undertakings.

Integrity

We do what we say, say what we do and place transparency and accountability at the heart of everything we do.

Sustainability

We go beyond providing homes to providing practical life skills and resources to ensure the beneficiaries of our program thrive in their new community.

Our Board

Behind our ambitious vision and mission is a collection of leaders and game-changers who believe in the power of decent housing to elevate families and communities.
